The Blue Carpet Treatment is the eighth studio album from hip hop and rap legend Snoop Dogg. The album was released on November 20th, 2006, by Doggystyle Records. The album had 21 different producers, some of the most notable being Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Pharrell, Timbaland, and more.
The album contains 21 songs, plus 2 bonus tracks. From the album, there were several hits, some of which include “That’s That’s Sh*”, Vato, and I wanna f* you” featuring Akon. The album’s title was actually chosen due to his previous background history when he was involved in a street gang, known as the Crips, whose stereotypical color was known as blue. Snoop Dogg has stated that it took him nine months To completethe album.
Snoop Dogg has also confirmed that one of the major contributors to his album was Dr. Dre, who actually produced a number of the songs, and even rapped on the song “Imagine”. Some of the other major contributors to the album include Ice Cube, Pharrell, R. Kelly, Akon, Cypress Hill, and others.
There is even a reference to what most call the most anticipated album of all time, Dr. Dre’s final album Detox in one of Snoop Dogg’s songs. On the song Boss’s Life, there is a line that references in the album, saying: “If my n*a’s Detoxin’ there is more for me”. The album did get good reviews from a number of critics and music magazines and websites. According to Entertainment Weekly, “Blue Carpet finds him refocused and reunited with Dr. Dre on three tracks. The two get nostalgic on standout ‘Imagine’.” Also, Vibe had to state “Tha Blue Carpet Treatment stands as a strong statement from a veteran still pushing his artistic boundaries.” Finally, XXL Magazine had to say, “Snoop’s lyrical fire seems resurrected, as he delivers arguably his most consistently scorching work post-Doggystyle.”
Overall, this is one of Snoop Dogg’s betteralbums. Although it is still a very good album, I have to rate it below some of his previous works. I still believe that his debut solo album Doggystyle was still his best, and Tha Last Meal coming after that.
