Fall Fashions for 2009

While the fashion houses may be pushing their original forecast lines for the upcoming season, economics is still the bottom line.

Street trends, believe it or not, are ultimately always economically biased.

Bling is dead! It will be considered crass to be displaying apparent wealth as others are suffering the crunch.

Fashion is, and always has been, a reflection of the mood of society as a whole. The mood is dark!

Though there is always a place for elegance, street-wear will become understated and solid. Buyers will be seeking lasting quality products that will see them through hard times without looking like poverty enhanced!

Because of this colour will be toned down to survive several seasons with the simplicity lending itself to the more prominent use of accessories to change the overall look of a basic item.

Belts, scarves,bangles, hats and handbags will be huge with special emphasis on belts. Belts will be worn on nearly everything as they’re a great way of changing the look of an outfit quickly of carrying through to the next season. Strong patterns are out! Subtle self patterning is back.

Gray with maroons, dark blues and greens, mustard and browns, dark mixers easily picked up with accessories, will be the most sought after schemes.

Throw away has gone for now and the one season outfit just won’t be tolerated. This trend will cover all age groups and sexes. Clothing will need to last to sell this season.

Layering is back with a vengeance! Mix and match the ultimate in recession styling.

Capes will be huge, in sales not size, though they will be full length, and long maxi coats will be much sought after.

With such a dark mood generally, special occasions are more likely tobe well over the top a complete contrast from the day wear.

It is on such occasions when people want to forget the day time drudgery, that the originally planned for brilliant sateen’s and overlays of opulent laces will be on show. Colours will be far higher than day wears with gold and silver overlaying pinks and purples, lemons and blues. Outfits will be over the top in elegance, femininity the night life order.
