Some of the best movies ever made are ones that we enjoyed in our childhood. They are the innocent animated flicks that we hate to admit that we love, and they are the cute little movies that have little children and teens that are unforgettable. Anyone that has their own kids will agree that watching some movies with your child is quite entertaining. We all have our favorites, and there are plenty of movies that raked in the dough at the box office, but which ones are the best? We could analyzea list of the top grossing films, or we could reach back into our fond memory bank, and come up with a list of favorite children movies that we would still watch today.
~’E.T.’
Anyone who claims to not like this movie is lying. It isn’t only a classic, but the ending is not sad, and it is a sweet tale. It is also very loveable and cute, and one of the few movies that did not allow Drew Barrymore’s terrible acting to ruin the story. Though it is not exactly a new movie, it is one of those timeless tales that can never be remade because of the sentimental value.
~’Toy Story, I and II’.
This movie is great for many reasons. The star power that voices the characters is amazing, and it has something for everyone. Buzz and Woody are likable to any gender, and almost any age, and the rest of the toys are endearing and familiar. The motion picture is funny, clever, and very well put together. It is also a Disney made motion picture which gives it a Littleextra oomph. The sequel to ‘Toy Story’ was actually betterthan the first, which is quite a feat for a sequel. Some of us keep hoping for a third motion picture to come along.
~’The Wizard of Oz’.
A classic fantasy movie for anyone of any age. This motion picture is especially poignant to children because it is full of magis, color, fun, fright, and the younger you’re the less you’ve seen it and are not fatigued of it. It has everything to keep a child’s interest; Flying monkies, a wicked witch, a good witch, munchkins (in strange Littleoutfits), an adventure, a wizard, a speaking lion, a speaking scarecrow, a talking tin man, and a yellow brick road that travels through various strange worlds.
~’Harry Potter’, all of them.
Yes, they can be a bit much at times, but you must admit, they’re very interesting. There is always an adventure to be had, and Harry and his pals save the day, and live to tell about it. The movie’s also portray good winning out over evil, which is something every child should learn. Additionally, the movies promote the books (and vice versa) which encourages kids to read more than they normally would.
~’Finding Nemo’.
Another treasure from the Disney vault, this movie was one of the top grossing animated movies of all time. You would be hard pressed to find a child who doesn’t like this movie. We all fell in love with the wee orphaned Nemo, and when he got stolen from his dad, we were heartbroken. The adventure to save him from the grasp of the dentists evilTiny neice was highlighted by a bevy of colorful, comical characters, led by the hilarious Dorie (who was a few fish shy of a school, if you catch my drift).
Some other great children movies are all of the Shirley Temple movies (mostly because she was too adorable for words, and also orphaned), any of the ‘Little Rascals’ movies, and ‘Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory’, if you can withstand the oompa-loompa characters, that is. Chances are if you watched a movie as a kid, and it held you entranced, it will do so for your offspring, or the next generation that comes along. That is what makes a great movie great.
