Ok, ladies. We all know there was a Disturbance in The Force when Skinny Jeans arrived on the scene. The majority of Womankind cried out, “What are you trying to do to us!? We have hips! We have more than 0% body fat! We have to go out in the light of day! Weren’t Low Rise Jeans bad enough for those of us who don’t like strangers seeing our Bum Cracks!? And now THIS!?”
There have been numerous Shocks to our Fashion Systems over the years. Some Runway Pieces are meant for Art, not Daily Wear. Most of the Shock and Awe has come from people taking those articles meant for Fun and Art and wearing them on the street as if they were your Standard Jeans and T-Shirt.
The best way to assess ‘Fashion Trends You Should Ignore’ is by following the old adage, nosce te ipsum: Know Thyself.
If you don’t know what works ideal for you then even the most Innocent-Looking Trend like Pencil Skirts or Newsboy Caps, could be equivalent on the Richter Scale of that whole Poncho Disaster. Ugh, what a ridiculous idea. The worst part being that it’s impossible to wear a purse on your shoulder. Completely impractical unless you are going to be Standing Still somewhere, with your Cash, I.D. and Lip Gloss in your sock. And unless you’re in Mexico, riding a horse. Then it’s pretty much de rigeur.
Once you Know Thyself, which can take Brutal Honesty with Thyself, then you can easily asses the Trends and find ones that, while they may be a bit Outlandish or Impractical, fit your Body Type, your Personal Style and let you have some FUN.
Pay Attention Now: Fashion Should Be Fun!
1. Body Type – This is the Hardest Part and must be done FIRST. Without knowing you personally, it’s hard to give detailed advice in a One-Way Article.
