Unless you’re Heidi Klum and you can afford to have a personal trainer, a personal chef and have a tummy tuck, then you’re really not going to get all the way back to looking and feeling the same as you did before you had kids. But because we are women, we’re strong; we are going to do our best.
We all know we’re not Heidi Klum, or Cindy Crawford who can afford to get surgery and have a Nanny to help them. Unless you max out your credit cards, or have a great job, then you have to work really hard to get back to the way you looked and felt before that little bundle of joy came into your life.
Personally I want to have Kate Moss’s life where a Nanny is taking care of my child while I jet set around the world modeling and then go out and party all night. Usually when real women like us have kids we’ve to go back to work, or stay home with the baby, and we’re doing all this on Littleor no sleep.
So, here are what we REAL women can do to get back to the wonderful women we were before we had a baby:
Eat healthy foods that are good for you and give you energy. Even though you may not have the time, you have to make the effort to eat healthy. If you are breastfeeding, you will need to take care of yourself, because it’s true what they say-the baby eats what you eat.
Besides swilling coffee all day to stay awake, have tons of vegetables, and fruitwhich has natural sugar, which of course gives you natural energy.
Wait until the baby starts sleeping through the night before youbegin dieting.
When the baby started sleeping six hours straight at night, three months after he was born, I went back to work, because we needed the money. That’s when I started cutting back on my food. Don’t go crazy and only drink lemon water. Eat sensibly. Don’t snack. Don’t have desserts. Eat smaller portions.
Don’t worry about not losing the baby weight right away.
He’s with you because he adores you for you. I took the baby for walks in a massive old stroller several days a week outside. I walked until he fell asleep from the fresh air. It took a while to lose the baby weight, but it happened. I felt great getting some exercise and the baby fell asleep from the fresh air.
Find an exercise program that works for you. If you can afford to join a gym, starta class or two. Get together with another Mom in your neighborhood andbegin your own workout plan. When you workout with a friend, or in a group, that helps you stick to a regimen. Unless of course, everybody in the class is in great shape, and you just want to throw up when you go in.
Get a sitter to watch the baby so you and your partner can go out. It’s important to get away from the Littlecritter you love so much. You need to have time with your spouse, or boyfriend to keep your relationship together. It’s important because you do not want to end up so unhappy that you cannot take care of yourself or the baby.
Things will never go back to the way they were once the baby is born. Having just one child changes your life forever, unless of course you’re a supermodel. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Having a baby changes your body in ways you never could imagine, like never getting rid of that back fat. Enjoy the time you have with the baby, because before you know they will be hormonal teenagers. When you get back in shape, the man in your life will think you look great, and want to make another baby.
