Once again, yet another celebrity is in the hot seat for controversial remarks, this time slamming Jesus. After winning, her first Emmy for her reality show, ‘My Life on the D-list’, Kathy Griffin chose to take it one step further by putting her own spin on the traditional acceptance speech.

While filled with deep gratitude, Griffin stated, “”A lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus,” then while grasping her coveted statuette she further stated, “Suck it, Jesus. This award is my god now.”

Of course, this drew an uproar throughout the religious community most prominently from the Catholic League for Religious Civil Rights. Kathy Griffin claims to be Catholic, but despite her religious affiliation she claims no regret for her words and claims they speech was made in the spirit of humor.

“Am I the only Catholic left with a sense of humor?”

The E! Entertainment channel apparently felt differently about Griffins ‘humor’ and has decided to censor Griffin’s acceptance speech. The edited version will appear Saturday night before the Prime time Emmy Awards.

Griffin has a reputation for taking on celebrities, by taking shots from the red carpet but now she has chosen to take on a Biggerfigure. She had been passed over last year, losing to Ty Pennington’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”.

How much heat will Griffin take for statements which around the web have been characterized as “blasphemous”, “hate fueled”, and “bigotry”? With her reality show about to air its new season, the ratings will tell whether the public was laughing with her or scowling at her.
