SING A SONG OF SYMPATHY
It’s cold outside as the sun burns down
In the distant land there is a crying sound
If we turn up the amp and sing a song
We can all declare we can do no wrong
With the stars on board and a glass of wine
A pic shoot and they’ll sing a line
I’ll give up my time it’s all for free
But don’t touch my bank cos I don’t have the key
A superstar with time to spare
Will give you half a glance
I know what ideal to save the rest
I’ll give them all a chance
We’ll sing our song it will not be long
Till your feeling at your best
My band will roar with another score
And you can do the rest
CHORUS
Why can’t you see that what they need
Is more than a cheerful song
You hide your wealth and promote yourself
As their savior all along,
So sing a song of sympathy
A pocket full of stars
Four and twenty limousines
Shined and polished cars
And when the show is over
They all go on there way
With a pat on the back
We can all relax
They’ve saved the world today
So all dig deep to fill the pot
And watch it over flow
Can’t find my cheque and my pens run out
But my band is ready to go
From behind my shades a vision in light
I know what to do I know what is right
The large mans spoke and I’ve been told
Look at me mar I’m on top of the world
Apersonal whiz who sits on the gate
With more money to spend than a crumbling state
I watch my mouse as it runs around
Amused to death by its crying sound
There’s a football star who’s paid to far
Has finally lost the plot
I’ll kick a ball and look real cool
But then I’ll have to stop
Cos this sparkling bling just doesn’t sing
The tale I want to tell
Its way too small and to top it all
The cheapness is a hell
No time to waste I must make haste
I’m off to a fund raising heist
With suit to boot the charity loot
Will never match its price
Its cut real clean it must be seen
But you can’t have one too
At the end of the night if the price is right
Can I send an I.O.U?
CHORUS
So sing a song of sympathy
For the bride and groom the wedding looms
As they startto panic now
The coloured blooms that fill the room
Just do not project some how
250K on there special day
For flowers cannot be right
They wanted more to fill the floor
But hey they’ll last the night
The vicar stares with gasps of air
As he reads their wedding lines
You’ve got the lot yet lost the plot
If this is a sign of the times
The collection tin will rattle thin
And there is still a hole in the roof
But that’s just fine I’ll skip the wine
Or I’ll end up speaking the truth
The vows you take will crack and brake
Cos your cares about just not that strong
And that rock you wear I must disappear
There’s just something seriously wrong
It could feed the earth but for what its worth
It might not last that long
CHORUS
So sing a song of sympathy..
A silent stroll but the bell will not toll
To the sound of a shaking can
Who stands alone without a moan
To the fact that they do not get a hand
And when it done they’ll count the fund
And bless it on its way
Across the land salvation stands
And sends some hope this day
CHORUS
So sing a song of sympathy.
